Christmas is coming, it’s almost time for my annual viewing of The Hogfather, and I’m dreaming of stollen for breakfast. Much like other traditions we’ve also been working on our Christmas Gift Guide of brum creatives.
I’m notoriously difficult to buy for. So I appreciate that you might be struggling to find that perfect gift for someone – hopefully this guide will help. If you find yourself inspired by this list we’ve included a quick guide to the Christmas Arts Markets happening in brum, where you can find more of this kind of goodness.
‘Designer who illustrates’ Anjuli McKenna has some very cool crest inspired risograph prints up for sale. We’ve featured the brum one here, but the Stockholm metallic gold version is also ace. A4 Birmingham print £8.00.
Illustrator Tom Woolley’s maps are a real joy to look at. Beautifully crafted with loads of personality. Thankfully he has some for sale so you can own one yourself. We love the Myths and Legends map below – great to see the Beast of Bodmin get a mention. A3 Myths and Legends Map £15.00
Birmingham Modernist Tote Bag
If you’re buying a gift for someone who, like me, has been touched by the hand of mod, then this could be the present for them. Or one of their badges. Birmingham Modernist Tote £6.00
From modernism to brutalist inspired pottery, great architectural inspired work. We think the ziggurat pieces would make a nice gift for anyone who misses the central library. Ziggurat Vessels £40.00
Sparrow + Wolf
You’ll need some decent wrapping paper for your gifts, and we like the look of this origami set from Sparrow and Wolf. Check out their whole range as there’s some cool pin badges too. Mixed Origami Gift Set £11.00
You’ll no doubt have seen the distinctive work of Birmingham illustrator and designer Roots. Her weird and wonderful character prints really would make an excellent gift, we love the ice-creams. Ice-cream A5 prints £7.50
Yam Yam Cards
Chris is a fellow Substrakt designer with Dan and has a great range of light hearted Christmas cards. £2.50 – £6.00
